As one of the townships of Marion County, Indiana, it is located in the Southeast corner of the county. Most of Franklin Township is considered to be Indianapolis, but it also includes Wanamaker, Acton and the very east corner of Beech Grove.
Although much of this area still appears rural in appearance, Franklin Township is a booming area. Many of the people living in downtown Indianapolis have ventured out there because it is easy to get to from downtown and has great interstate accessibility.
Franklin Township Community School Corporation is the school corporation with 6 Elementary schools, and Intermediate school, 2 Middle Schools and a High School. The high school is called Franklin Central High School.
There are many housing options in the area all the way from condos to high-end luxury housing. Franklin Township used to be predominantly all residential, but now there are many new businesses and shopping and restaurants popping up everywhere.
